When it’s going well, students are brainstorming creative ideas, experimenting with new techniques, and surprising you with hilarious, powerful, and heartfelt stories. When it’s not, kids are arguing that they have “nothing to write about,” rambling on and losing the plot, or writing generic personal narratives we’ve all read before.
